Here at Kybotech, we’re always on the lookout for new talent – for people and personalities that gel with our company ideals and are hungry for success. So to understand what life at Kybotech is like, we think there’s no better way than to talk to some of the real people who work there.
Check out their answers below to see if Kybotech is the right fit for you!
Hi Paul – so which brand do you (primarily) work on?
Mainly on Garden Buildings Direct.
And what’s your role at Kybotech?
So I’m a graduate data analyst in the marketing department.
Life of a Data Analyst
Can you briefly explain what your role involves?
Gathering information to make data-driven decisions for Garden Buildings Direct (BillyOh & Bobbin).
So how long have you worked at Kybotech?
Just less than 1 year at the moment.
And how big is your team/immediate department?
About 4-6 people.
“I’ve gone from working on two retail sites to four!”
And can you explain “a day in your life” at work, Paul?
Yeah – so I start by analysing the data (for each site individually) from the previous day/week/month. Then I compare this to our targets and make informed predictions to see where we can capitalise or where we need to focus our attention if we’re below target.
What gets you out of bed and to work in the morning?
The chance to have a look at an extra day or full weekend of data and see the impact of last week’s decisions. This might be moving our marketing budget to a high-converting product or sending traffic to a brand new product to see how it will perform before we can make predictions!
Working at Kybotech
And how have you found working remotely during the past 1-2 years?
Well, I started working remotely from day 1 and it’s been good. Not having to commute while still being able to jump on a call with my colleagues at 9 am to discuss the day ahead is perfect.
What’s one proud moment you’ve had whilst working here?
For me, Black Friday was unpredictable. I was working on two different sales for about 10 days prior, so it was nice to see the hard work pay off on the day!
Nice, and what’s on your list to achieve over the next year?
Become fluent in Shopify and as many Google products as possible so I can be a valuable asset for Garden Buildings Direct, Bobbin, BillyOh, and any other future sites.
So how have you seen the company change/grow since you’ve been working here?
I’ve gone from working on two retail sites to four! So just witnessing first-hand everyone’s ability to adapt and manage multiple businesses.
“The company is very transparent and will accommodate anyone who is willing to work hard”.
Always Improving
What useful skills have you learned whilst working here?
Working on multiple sites has definitely helped me improve my organisation. It’s important not to neglect one site so I learned to share my time between them to make sure everything’s running smoothly while still getting the work done that’s most urgent.
Can you remember a memorable facepalm moment at work? (It’s ok we’ve all had them!) How did you grow/improve from this?
Oh yeah, I remember setting up my first Google Ads campaign. I mistakenly included “all products” which was, like, 600+ instead of the select 10! I checked the traffic levels after 1 hour and saw that we were having a lot of traffic cheap (I thought it was great!).
I spotted my mistake within the hour and I’ve not made that mistake since (touch wood). I am glad I checked on it within the hour as now I understand the importance of reviewing all changes made to the site and now this is something I always do.
Why did you decide to apply to Kybotech – What was it about the role that seemed attractive?
I’ve always liked working with numbers and “Data Analyst” jumped out at me because I understand the power of data-driven decisions and I wanted to be the one to come to those conclusions.
What’s the best thing about working at Kybotech?
The company is very transparent and will accommodate anyone who is willing to work hard. It’s more about your dedication and ability to pick up new things rather than just your previous experience. There are loads of opportunities to learn and see the work you do pay off as the company grows.
Any advice for potential candidates?
It’s never too late to learn something new! And – don’t overthink the little things, keep it simple.
